Every year I look forward to the blood orange season, here in England it can be only a few weeks. Between January and March, so I make the most of them when I can get them.
For those of you who are not in the know, Blood oranges are a variety of orange with tart-sweet, berry-like red-coloured flesh that is grown in the Mediterranean. The colour ranges from pink to a reddish-purple. The fruit can be the same size or slightly smaller than as an average orange with blushed red thin skin.
I don’t do anything fancy, just peel and eat. Sometimes I put them in my salad just to give it a zing.
